Once Known as Insects
A VR Experience About Extinction
Project Overview
The Brief
The brief was to create a campaign for a fictional organization to help save insects and bring attention to biodiversity. We needed to create something that would make people understand the critical importance of insects in our ecosystem.
Our Approach
Instead of traditional campaigning, we chose to create an immersive VR experience that would let people experience firsthand what a world without insects would look like, making the message more impactful and memorable.
The Challenge
Create a campaign for a fictional organization to help save insects and bring attention to biodiversity. The project needed to educate people about the critical role insects play in our ecosystem and what would happen if they disappeared.

The Solution
We developed an immersive VR experience that puts users in the shoes of 17-year-old Rose, exploring her great-great-grandfather's house. He was a renowned insect researcher who tried to warn humanity about the impending extinction crisis.

The Experience
Players navigate through a haunting, post-apocalyptic world where the absence of insects has led to ecological collapse. Through environmental storytelling and interactive elements, users discover the researcher's warnings and witness the consequences of ignoring them.

Technical Implementation

VR Development
Built using Unreal Engine 5, we created a playable demo for the presentation.

Distribution Strategy
Google Cardboard-style VR headsets designed as promotional flyers, with QR codes linking to a companion mobile app containing the demo.

Interactive Storytelling
Environmental storytelling techniques combined with interactive elements to create an emotionally engaging narrative experience.
